“Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work.”
C.S.Lewis
Our children are the most important little people in our lives, which is why we strive to support them and their families through child occupational therapy. We all want our children to achieve the best that life has in store for them. However, there are times when childhood can be challenging. They may have difficulties with general development with their motor skills, social interaction or play skills, some children develop some very specific challenges such as with eating, dressing or toiletting. Though some children may find participating in daily activities challenging, there are skilled people trained to support your child, family and significant others to ensure that they reach their potential.
About Sprouts Child Occupational Therapy
Welcome to Sprouts. Sprouts child occupational therapy services is a specialist therapy service for children who are experiencing difficulties participating in ordinary daily activities. Sprouts has expertise in working with children who have a feeding disorder or are “fussy eaters”. We provide specific assessment and treatment for children who have difficulties with mealtimes, eating a range of foods or who have a general lack of interest in food.
We also provide assessment and treatment for children who have general developmental difficulties and carrying out daily tasks such as dressing, toileting, handwriting, tool use (e.g scissors), their sensory processing and development of their playing skills.
Child Occupational Therapy treatment may be offered in either a one-to-one therapy sessions or in a group based session depending on your child’s specific assessment and needs. Individual sessions are currently offered as a mobile therapy service and Miriam will visit your child at their home or school. Group sessions are offered in a variety of different settings, including schools, community or health centres.
We offer a number of parent education sessions including feeding development, how our senses affect our eating, sensory processing, and what’s so important about handwriting. These topics and more are offered throughout the year and specific information on upcoming education sessions is available on the training section of this website.
